Hi everyone I had my reccie in Nov 2007 and loved all of VIC but after many sleepless nights have decided on the Mornington area. Just loved the feel of it and think it would be a good place for the kids {8, 7 & 2 1/2}. I'm looking at moving in Spring{UK} 2008 and would like some suggestions of good state schools that you know about and private school fees just to see if I can stretch to that. I'm looking to work CBD area and I don't mind the commute but can't afford to live there. Also open to any other suggestions of what to look out for or maybe you could tell me what you like about the area you live in and why I should live there? Look forward to hearing from you JoeLabs |

Hi Joe The Mornington area is lovely and there's a lot of posters there who I'm sure will be along soon. The commute to the CBD would be about 1 hr 15 mins depending on exactly where you worked. There are a number of good state schools around. I haven't researched all the private schools yet, but I do know that both Toorak College for girls and The Peninsula School charge around $20,000 a year, note these are considered some of the most expensive ones. We are renting right now in Mordialloc, Bayside. We love living here within walking distance of the beach, and the beachside lifestyle, its very Californian (in a good way). However the house prices are so high here and the block sizes so small for your money so we have bought 1.5 acres in Langwarrin, just near Frankston and will be building this year. Hi Mornington is beautiful, and easy to fall in love with, we have lived here now for a year and a half and love it. The schools here are fantastic as far as I am concerned, and are run by some fantastic teachers. There is a new school being built in Mount Martha which is a hop skip and a jump from Mornington, the school is called Balcombe and I think it is part private part state, but not sure on cost. But you do have two state schools in Mornington and Mount Martha to choose from. Here is the web address for Osborne School www.osborneps.vic.edu.au They also provide before and after school care, number is 0419 527 938 Osborne school year will start Thursday 31st Jan. Thanks Mo As many websites that you could give me would really help. We reckon schools are the most important so this will determine where we choose to live, but to be honest I don't think our budget would stretch to send 3 kids to private so state schools it is then! JoeLabs |
