Hi We need car hire at the end of January, for our first few weeks in Melbourne. I noticed that rent-a-bomb were recommended as "good value for money". I tried to book them over the internet, but getting no response for last 2 weeks, has anyone used them before or managed to get a reply from them? If not, does anyone else have any good "value for money" recommendations? Thanks. Dizzy |

Hi Dizzy We used Rentabomb........they are certainly cheap, some of their cars leave a lot to be desired though! We arrived in Melbourne with no credit card (we paid it off back in the UK and cancelled it) we had a load of cash but none of the car rental companies would let us rent a car without a credit card imprint. We were referred to Rentabomb, a short taxi ride from the airport (about $10-15), and booked a car, paid in cash and off we went! The car lived up to its name of a "Bomb" but it got us from A to B. Didn't try and book on-line so have no experience of that, we just rolled up at their rental office at Tullamarine Airport..... http://www.rentabomb.com.au/contact.html Good luck Di x |

Hi Dizzy, We arrive in Melbourne Monday 21st January and have decided to use Rent a Bomb from the 24th. I sent an email yesterday to book a car and I've had a reply from Karen from the Blackburn office today. She's offering a manual corolla for $175 a week or an intermediate & slightly younger corolla (and something else) from $188 to $210 a week. I've replied to her & will let you know what happens............... All the best, |

Thanks everyone, I finally got a response, as I'm picking up from the airport, they're charging me a bit more, still works out good value. I'll expect a "bomb" then no disappointments!! As long as it goes from A to B and is reliable, then that will do me. Paul & Sarah, do let me know how you get on! :D Dizzy |
