Got our visa ...; ... is it really happening?

Hello all,

This all started one year ago when DH worked from home for a couple of days, watched an episode of Wanted Down Under and decided he wanted us to go and live in Australia. My redundancy after 19 years service meant that we had plenty of funds to visit so we took a reccie in October (see The Crooksters reccie report). I didn't actually mean to get a great job with a sponsored visa, it just kind of happened and we've just had confirmation that our visa's been granted!

We fly on 2nd Feb with Malaysia stopping at Kuala Lumpar for a day and the dog flys the same time with Quantas. We've got a two month rental in Bayswater and my job starts on the 18th Feb. The only problem that we have at the moment is that we've not yet sold our house or our cars. People just don't seem to be spending money in the UK right now. Hopefully it will pick up as the spring approaches.

It's all a bit surreal tbh. We've got a farewell party next week so perhaps it will start to sink in a bit then. If not then, the arrival of the John Mason packers will surely spark some nerves?

We're really eager to get there now and looking forward to meeting some of you at the next meet. :waving:
