Hi we are off out next week for our validation trip and then move on the 2nd August. We dont want to live in Melbourne but do need to work there so can anyone suggest any areas up to 2 hours away that we should look at, we like buninyong as my sister lives there so ballarat area is a posibility but anyone suggest anywhere else - we have a 13 year old daughter who is our main priority Thanks Robert |

Hi Robert Ballarat is nice, but a long way from the ocean / bay, also bear in mind that it can get very hot in the Summer and very cold in the Winter. We live in Lara (3212) which is a lovely semi-rural town, about 15 mins from Geelong and 40 mins from Melbourne. It has a real sense of community here and is great for the kids too. Lara has it's own outdoor pool, which is to be renovated this winter and is safe. There are mixed ages here. The schools are good, although I'm not sure if there is a senior school here, as we moved from Sydney just before Christmas. The house prices are also still cheap. Other nice areas are Warun Ponds, Grovedale, Belmont, East & West Geelong are also up-and-coming. Happy hunting! Severnciders |
