As some of you may have noticed we now have a domain name to go with our new forum software.

http://britvics.org

If you ever have to tell anyone the address it's pronounced "BritVics dot org", with "org" as in "organisation"

.org domains are used by non-profit community groups and organisation so it seems a fitting domain and it only ~US$10 a year to maintain. You can still access the forums through the old domain name http://s7.zetaboards.com/BritVics/ but I advise everyone to make a new bookmark

In the spirit of being transparent the domain was registered on a new GoDaddy.com account that I created for BritVics and the full login and account details have been posted in the Admins forum so that no one person has control over it.

I hope this makes it easier for everyone to get onto BritVics from now on

Thanks Al

Really appreciate all the hard work that you have put in.

I briefly saw the favicon - I like it - is it also linked to the new domain name?

To me the site is mostly txt based, the pictures and buttons work properly, but the general theme of the site is not working.

I have just noticed that the old address of the forum is NOT currently redirecting to this new britvics.org address. This is temporary but, to save a lot of people asking what's happening I'll explain.

The Domain Name Server outages suffered in the past few days after the fire at The Planet's data centres (where Zetaboards and ~10,000 other websites host their services) are still occurring. This means that from time to time the names of the servers where things are stored don't point to the physical machines correctly. So the our forum (this one) being on s7.zetaboards.com can't be found when you type in s7.zetaboards.com/BritVics (the old address) but it is still there (otherwise I wouldn't be able to type this). Thankfully the new domain name of britvics.org is hosted elsewhere and does redirect to this forum quite happily.

So in short, the forum is here but the previous address (Domain Name) isn't currently working. Should be back up in a few hours.

Explains a lot.

I access Britvics a lot from my mobile and had just changed the bookmark over to the zetaboards one, deleted the invision one and then couldn't access BV for love nor money.

Time to change the bookmark once more. :D

And thanks Al. :have a beer:

Me too, I have yet to be able to login yet though via a Nokia 6110 with the S60 Simbian OS. Just doesn't seem to work :(

Thank you.

I enter the site via the link at Britz in Oz and as I had no problem, I guess you would have updated the link.

Being a regular member of many website forums, I find the 'View Posts Since Last Visit' tool very handy.

I can't seem to locate it on this new website?

Cheers.
