I have been in Melbourne 4 weeks now, I moved here on my own. Everything is slowing coming together. I've found a nice home and work has started to filter through. I have also found a part time job in a restaurant to filter money through until my full time wages arrive.
I have met a few people and been out a few times and i'm getting to find my way around the city. At first it was really hard as I wasn't happy where I was living, there was hardly any work as I waited on references and I wasn't meeting people due to lack of work.
I'm still waiting for a debit card off West pac though!!!!!!! but apart from that things are looking up. I was want to get some personalised things for my apartment now, so it looks more homely.

You must have arrived around the same time as us.
We kinda' settled in fairly quickly, but getting the kids sorted etc took our minds off things.

I think once you get some personal things around it'll help.

Good luck with everything

Give it some time and you will settle in ok i'm sure.

I came out on my own as well and the first month or so was quite hard. Once you have your place sorted and some personal stuff around you it will be much better. Amazing how much difference it made when my junk arrived from the UK :)

Just get out and about in the city and you will soon get to meet new people. I've not met an Aussie yet that didnt like to talk! :)
