Just thought I'd share my Melbourne experience As the title suggests I had quick trip down under of 5 days :ugh: Although short and sweet it has proved very valuable and I'm glad I went for a look. We already have the job offer and we have just started the 457 visa process and fingers crossed should arrive late Feb. Melbourne then.......what can I say apart from WOW! I tried not to fall in love with the place and evaluate the way of life with an open mind but its hard when you feel so at home somewhere. I stayed at the Quest apartments in Williamstown and had a hire car to get me about, I found Williamstown very liveable and very firendly. The locals in the bars around Nelson Place invited me into their comapany and as a result I'm in email contact with a few people before we even move over  I had a trip along to Geelong thats where I'll be working, mixed feelings about the the place nice waterfront and some very nice burbs however its just not for me can't put my finger on it. I also had the pleasure of a trip down to Queenscliff and Torquay, both places are amazing what a laid back lifestyle and stunning beaches. Enjoyed a nightout in St Kilda and the city had a great time can't get over how friendly people are and how much of a feel good factor there is about the place. I spent a day in the city at the southbank and done the tourist bit up the tower which was fantastic even though I was travelling alone. I looked at Altona, Point Cook & Sanctuary Lakes as possible places to rent then evetually buy a home, seems these places are great for families. I suspect it will come down to rental prices and schools as to where we settle. I know it was brief and I have lot to learn about the place but overall what a great city and state. The jet-lag is killing me still. Anyway thats enough of my rambling Hope to see you in Feb Mikey Boy |

Hi Mikey , I'm well impressed. I think you have packed more in on your five days than I have in 5 months !! I'd be knackered with all that running about, never mind the jet-lag  Glad you enjoyed your trip and hopefully see you over here next year. Cheers  Steve |

Yup I'm still recovering. I'm just so full of ideas now though in terms of areas and schools that I'm driving myself mad just thinking about it all. It would be good to meet people from here when we make it over. Everyone seems to have a positive attitude on here unlike other forums. Mikey Boy |
