I think thats ones all down to the individual and how you cope with emotions.

My folks came over for a visit last year, and as much as I enjoyed their stay,I felt a bit miserable when they left, but only for the next day.

This type of situation unfortunetly comes with the package for Life in Aus.

Hang in there :mate:

It does get better with time. My mum came out for 3 weeks in September and saying good bye to her was awful. Give it a couple of days once emotions have settled down.
To me having to say goodbye is one of the big downers about living here.

Hi Jules - how are you doing, haven't seen you on here for a while!

I know it's hard but at least they came over - that's the main thing. Ours won't even think about it which is hard.

Maybe just look forward to their next visit or you taking a trip back to see them?

Take care
Kim

Thanks guys-I think I'll feel better tomorrow-it definitely is the biggest downer about being here.

Hi Kim-hope you're doing well and still enjoying the peninsula :waving: -you're right I haven't been on in ages as I was trying to wean myself off spending so much time online! We have moved to a rental in South Yarra now 2 mins from husband's work so feeling alot better as we get to see each other now :kissed: House in Bonbeach is on the market and once sold I do want to plan a trip back to UK but Mark not so keen haha (I'll have to think of a good bribe-maybe the promise of a PS3 for Christmas!). Like your rellies my parents in law refuse to come over but that's their loss I think!

It must be really awful saying goodbye but honestly your missing nothing but people. The weather here is horrible, grey, wet, cold and generally miserable. The mood here is also the same as the weather with all the media hype on the economy etc.....
It is my biggest dread when i eventually get over there, having loved ones come to stay knowing you'll have to go through goodbyes again.
Hope you feel better soon x

Hi Jules

Glad to hear you sound a bit more settled now you are in South Yarra. We are still enjoying the Peninsula and hopefully will get to see more of it when I can get away from the computer!

Next wk we have the hubbies mum arriving, which is going to be excellent, as its been difficult this year and our children have missed their Grandma, but just realised its for 11-wks, yes 11-wks, so its going to be interesting!!!, but she is lovely too....

Wish us luck!!

Not fair - you can never be too much of an avid UK news reader

Don't forget 24 hour access to your local BBC radio station too - listening to 94.9 BBC London as I write this...

With a VOIP phone I call any UK phone for 10c flat rate - talk until I'm sick of 'em - on MyNetfone - wonderful when you must connect.

Hope it helps you to know you are not alone... :waving:
