Hi I've been a "silent" peruser of Britvics for a while now... but I can't stay quiet any more because WE'VE BOOKED OUR FLIGHTS.... We are 2 secondary teachers, me 35 and OH 34yrs. I am a Deputy Head for my sins and OH a Head of PE. We think we'll still teach in Melbourne but we both want go go back into the classroom and do what we came into the job to do and teach kids!!! Our flights are booked for the 23rd July and we will be staying initially with our Ozzie friends in Mount Eliza. We still haven't sold the house so we may be renting long term... if the house sells we will be looking to buy in the Mount Eliza/Mornington area. We have PR visas and we intend for this to be a permanent move We have no jobs, no house and if the house doesn't sell.... not a lot of money as it is all tied up in bricks and mortar. But nothing will dampen our enthusiam and excitement... we are looking for a lifestyle change and to enjoy the climate (wrong time to come I know!!!!) and have an adventure. We hope to get jobs for the new academic year when we are out there and in the meantime we'll do supply teaching if we can get it, if not we'll do pretty much anything... just looking forward to a little less responsibility and a few less hours (We both work too bloody hard!!) So.... we would definately love to catch up with everyone at a meet up and will keep our eyes open for the next one after we land... Just wanted to say Hi really Sue and Richard Barlow |

Congratulations you will soon be on your way. With your teaching experience I am sure you will not have a problem obtaining positions. |

..like a Britvic'er....but weirder...

That's great news guys :) In reference to hopefully working a few less hours when here....it's hard to gauge as i don't know what hours you work currently, but we found that a lot of people seem to work crazily long hours here compared to back in the UK (in our experience anyway). Don't want to put a spanner in the works but thought it worth mentioning. Teaching jobs may be totally different though :) Best of luck with the move :) |
