Can remember if ive posted on BSG before, but does any of you follow it ? I know big ape and nagiboy do but thats about it.

Well it should all be tied up this weekend,I think it goes out on the sci fi channel (foxtel) tonight, but I will grab it from the usual sources.

I cant help but feel dissapointed with this final series.Wont post any spoilers for those who are maybe still to catch up on this season, but I cant help but feel that after the excitement of the first couple of S4 episodes, its just plodded along and been a bit dull.

So we have the 2 hour finale this weekend, but there seems to be still quite alot in the BSG pipeline, with the tv movie prequel, the Caprica series, and Ive just read that Universal are thinking about putting out a feature film based on the original BSG.

Still looking forward to the finale, but I definetly think this show lost its steam this season, shame.

Looking forward to watching the finale tomorrow morning. My uneducated (I have avoided spoilers like the plague) predictions are the Galactica being destroyed, the Cylon base being destroyed (probably being rammed by BSG) and Starbuck and Roslyn dying.

Talking of Starbuck, fans can meet her (Kaytee Sackoff) in person at Supernova next weekend at the Melbourne Royal Showgrounds. Along with Hayden Panettiere, the Cheerleader from Heroes, and many others.

The boys love these comic book conventions with all the Cosplay nuts

Starbuck dying . . . what again ? Shes not having much luck is she ! Roslins a cert, but I reckon it will be some act of sacrifice for the cause, instead of the cancer.

With you on Galactica and the Cylon base being knocked out,and that makes for a superb frakin space battle.I hope we even see a fire fight on the cylon base when they go after the wee lassie. This sort of thing is whats been sorely missing in this season, theres been little action and more like a soap in space.

Just someone please please please put a bullet in between Baltars eyes, hopefully within the first five mins so we can forget about him and get on with it.Not likely to happen I know, but he is a bloody irritating character (the original Baltar was better).

Oh and can Adama make it through the finale without getting pissed and bursting into tears ?

Time will tell, but I hope they give the fans a stonking finale for their dedication over the past 5 years.

I thought the cosplay thing was only in Japan, would be interesting to see.

Dowloading it now.

Baltar's my favourite character..well not the religious nut Baltar..but he was excellent in seasons 1 & 2, I find him hilarious.

Frakking WOW!

Best TV series ever.
Not sure about best series ever, but certainly one of the best endings to a series ever. Answered all the questions and ended every arc in the story.

Best Quote from the show: Cavil - Frak *BLAM*

I loved it, it's certainly been my favourite tv show of the past decade.

So why did Cavil commit suicide and what happened to the Colony?

OK, I assume those who are big fans will already have seen the Final two episodes (ever). For those that haven't

So why did Cavil commit suicide and what happened to the Colony?

Cavil realised he was about to be killed and just didn't want to give them the satisfaction. The colony was destroyed by the Nukes, just after the Galactica jumped, fired from the remaining Raptor.

Kara vanishing at the end was a bit too "deep" for me. Roslyn's end was handled very well, far more moving for me than Jade Goody. The entire "Earth" not being Earth after all and the planet then end up on is actually our Earth but in the era of Homo Erectus, fitting in with the whole Dispersal Theory for the development of Ancient Cultures was a stroke of genius (attributed by others in crypto-archaeology to the population of the first major ancient culture - Atlantis - seeding cultures around the world after leaving the Antarctic post the last major Earth Crust Displacement circa ~20,000 BC when the Arctic was shifted into a polar climate from previously being temperate).

SPOILERS ASWELL . . . . .

Well that certainly didnt dissapoint.

Likes

  • For the most part, edge of your seat stuff, particularly the build up to,and assault on the base star.

  • Galactica ram raiding the Base star, class.

  • A couple of nod's to the original series - Retro Cylons and the original BSG theme tune as the fleet heads off to the sun.

  • Chief Tyrol ringing Tory's scrawny neck !

  • Story in general tied up well.

Dislikes

  • Would have liked to have seen a more prolonged space dog fight sequence. One of the most exciting things about this show when it started out was it showed realistic zero G flight maneuvers, which made for really amazing dog fights.Kara should have been out there doing what she does best, piloting Vipers and ripping the toasters a new one.

  • CGI - Ah look I know the show wont have a feature film budget and therfore not the best CGI,but regardless the Cylons, and even Galactica buckling after its jump to Earth, looked pretty fake.

  • The whole god/angels/religious aspect .I never have quite understood it,and I'm certainly none the wiser after the finale.

THE SERIES AS A WHOLE

Negatives out the way first - Maybe they could have told this story in half a season less than it was, some episodes towards the end didnt really bring anything new or necessary to the plot.Bringing religious aspects into it,or at least to the level they did,was often (for me) confusing, and I think they could have done without it all together.

Positives - All in this has been a damn good TV show in general, and THE BEST science fiction show ever. The Star Trek series are very clinical, stale and forumlaic in comparison. The characters were well written and exremely well acted.Isnt it amazing that Ronald D Moore took a cheesy 70's sci fi show, cashing in on Star wars and aimed at kids, and turned it into this !

I hope this show sets an example for future sceince fiction shows.Ive not watched any of the new Dr Who's,but I believe their good, and I'm just hoping the proposed new Blakes 7 gets the green light too.

Well, its not over yet by a long mile, with the TV movie, spin off series and possible Unirversal feature movie in the pipeline.

Its been emotional . . . . . .

CRITICS PAY TRIBUTE TO WORLD’S GREATEST DRAMA SET ON A BATTLESTAR

Battlestar Galactica was last night hailed as the most intelligent and thoughtful drama ever to be set on a battlestar.

A fantastic pair of metaphors

As the long-running series drew to a close critics described it as a combustive drama that was as achingly real and relevant as anything else on television depicting the last surviving humans from the Twelve Colonies of Kobol and their war with the Cylons.

Peter Bianco, of Entertainment Weekly, said the dark and complex show delivered incisive political commentary and deep insights into the nature of polytheism as well as exploring the reliability issues of the Mark I Viper Starhound.

While Mary Mangan, of the Seattle Post Examiner, described it as an enthralling tale human survival, complex moral dilemmas and exploding robots.

However, creator Ronald D. Moore said: "You know, all this stuff is really nice, and obviously very flattering, but it's really just about spaceships and lasers.

"If it is a subtle critique of neo-conservatism and an allegory for the war on terror then I can assure you it's a total coincidence."

He added: "Of course it's more intelligent than Star Trek, but that's because I used a thesaurus. And, unlike Star Trek, we also resisted the urge to set every tenth episode in the 1940s just so the studio could claim a tax deduction on the costumes."
Viewer Tom Logan said: "The political and religious stuff was very thought-provoking, but what I liked the most were all the women in tight vests which accentuated their astounding charlies.

"Some of them were robots, which means you could make them do anything you wanted, even really dirty stuff you'd be ashamed to ask for even if you were paying."
