Well, Christmas is Coming and the goose is getting fat. What to do? Plans have to be made. Last year the Britviccers had a get together in St Kilda for a picnic and a game of Boules on xmas day. Does anyone want to do that sort of thing again, or does anyone have any suggestions. Maybe do the same thing but on Boxing day or New years day if the majority have other plans for the 25th. Moderators, Can we get this pinned if it starts to take off? |

Great idea. Unfoortunately as I'm a nurse and had all of last Christmas / New Year off, I'm not likely to be available, but if t's in the mid Christmas new Year period I might be off. Good to plan ahead though. Maggie |

We will be staying in St Kilda so a repeat of last year would be perfect - although I expect that those that were there last year will probably want to do something different. Just let us know where and when and we will be there!!! |

They wanted to charge us A$26 a night more than the price we negotiated in Dec 2007. It was way too expensive. The apartment in St Kilda is cheaper (although not much) but includes free parking, local calls and internet, plus a pool, gym and steam room. It's also on the sea front and within walking distance of everything. It was a no brainer in the end. 1 week to go now - we can't wait!!! |

We'd be really up for this, it'd be our first Xmas for a while with no one around and a meet sounds like a great idea. |

So, there is a bit of interest then. Same as last year. There was a few posted replies, but in the end quite a few people turned up. Does Boxing day sound like a better day. Lots of people will have other 'subsequent engagements' for the 25th. The reason why I posted this, was because we have had an invite to some friends house, as they took pity on us being on our own at Christmas. This is because they remember how lonely they were when they got here in 1973 after escaping the troubles of Belfast. Where shall we hold this? |

Right then, Only a month to go now. :ugh: So let's get something organised. Last year there was a bit of confusion trying to meet up :crybaby: , so let's get it all sorted now. I don't want to be a dictator, so suggestions please. Where, when, and wearing what? |

We're likely to be along this year as Amanda's family are mostly in Mexico for the holidays. Being where we are we're obviously happy with St Kilda beach and don't mind particularly which day. There a backup plan if it's a bit soggy? Scouts Hut if wet? Or we going to try to take over a couple of covered barbie areas in the park under the command of Generalissimo Davyfella? |

Boxing Day in St Kilda for us please! Looking at the Melways there seems to be just one BBQ area at the north end of Catani Gardens - I guess that that is the location? |

Yes, that's where we had it last year. But on Xmas day, the park was bunged, and the sheltered bbq area was already annexed by some Sweaty-Socks (Scottish) So someone local better get there early and place the German beach towels down. I nominate Simon from a cast of 1 to be the advance recconiasance party. |

Mackay to Melbourne? That must be a shock to the system  Don't know about set but there's been a lot of hands up for Boxing Day so far so I'd say it's leaning that way. |

We've only been in town a few weeks and are a bit short of friends at the moment (no violins yet, its not a complaint!) Anyway - I'd be up for a Christmas meet up (possibly as well as Boxing Day, not instead of the proposed meet-up at Catani Gardens). Can we have a show of hands? |
