It could get onto it last night but then our wireless dropped out for a moment and it didn't come back again.......even this morning on the main computer. Maybe everyone got so het up it exploded! I've only been on there because Britvics has got so quiet! Where is everyone? We who work from home rely on our virtual mates for some entertainment during the day! |

Mmm, okay. Sounds like a reason to use my faecesbook as much as my twatter account: not at all. It's a good job all this web 2.0 crap is free because I've signed up for nearly the lot and do stuff all with any of it :mah: Edit: apart from Britvics and one or two other forums. BE seems to be ok now. Not posting much these days, as just getting on with things. Although will add that thanks to a tip from a user, we seem to have found a good school solution  Ruth and Jasmin have just returned to UK after being out here for a fortnight. All being well, they will move here permanently from December. Pete PS Anyone know a good physio in Altona area? my arm has been aching for about 4 weeks, so need to get it fixed. God knows what I have done to it.......but it wasn't too much :have a beer: |

If you get fed up with farmville or scrabble you could always try bejeweled blitz but be careful its very addictive....... thinking of starting a self help group for bejeweled addicts lol. It has been very quiet on here for a long time and always the same people that respond to posts, maybe peeps are just settling down to living here and less are coming ????? |

BE has had severe issues on the networking side over the past few weeks, mostly affecting Oz and NZ users, it appears. I'm in the UK on business aand have been able to get in at albiet with a few 505 and 404 errors. Seems IB, their owners & hosts have been recyling servers like mad in an attempt to clear the issues. Cyber attacks seem to be happening to sites more and more these days. Those that are not farming on Facebook are looking for ways to attack sites evidently   Facebook is a great way to keep in touch though, yesterday one of my friends husband died suddenly in Perth not that old and we were able to rally the troops and arrange flowers etc at the drop of a hat with Facebook. |

Ditto Bejewelled. I bought the full version. Only trouble is my kids don't think it's normal for their Mum to like playing a computer game. If only they knew. I remember playing the original Space Invaders, and that worms game in the pub. And the tennis on the telly with the paddle for a racquet. Those were the days! Maggie |

As part of the UK anti bullying week, we received a document from school with a list of talking points to raise with our children. Such items include "I will not send to children or adults anything that could be considered unpleasant or nasty" and "I will make sure that all ICT cotnacts with other children and adults are responsible". There are tick-boxes next to each of the 9 statements which we then have to sign and return to the school. What a sad world when you have to do this and a mystery to our 8 year old as she's only allowed to play games and not to google or use email yet. Plenty of time for that when she's older. I don't think it will be too long before it becomes an issue though as so many of her friends do more on their computers. |

So true. A lot of my friends do have young children and they want to play the games on Facebook so us oldies look after them, friend tells us who they are and we make sure we are the neighbours etc and that way they get to play safely. |

What's facebook? I think I'm the only person on the planet who hasn't joined and doesn't have enough interest in it to learn what it's about. I just use forum, google and email only. What a ludite! |

We are not alone! I personally can't understand the urge to tell the world your private business. (does anyone use actual names in this forum and give out personal details?) Someone pointed out a practical use for it but how did we survive with just the landline, email and mobile phones? As for twittering that you've just been to the toilet or whatever, words fail me. I guess I'm getting old. I was just reading (in Australia: the biography of a nation by Phillip Knightley) that once upon a time people used to go to the butcher to buy a piece of meat which was cut for them and they went home and prepared a meal from it; now they expect to walk into the butcher to buy a ready prepared meal that they can bung in the microwave! Read once upon a time phone/email/text - now Facebook? One thing I wonder about is whether face to face skills of communication will start to be lost? Leave a message, send a text, post on your Facebook page; speak to someone face to face, hell no, hate doing that! Just stirring, as said, this forum is dead! |
