I thought I would post a few links for information on where I am living in Victoria. Its not Melbourne, however it is only 90 mins or so away. Its not a "commutable" distance, but it is an easy drive for a day of shopping to Melbourne. Bendigo, in my opinion, is a really beautiful town. It is big enough that you have everything you need on a day to day basis, but still retains the "small town" feel. Bendigo is in Central Victoria, which makes it a great place to explore alot of diverse areas within the entire State. The town has a wealth of history with it being in the "Golden Triangle". We have some good shopping up here, as well as good schools, a good range of activities for most interests and just 20 mins down the road we have Lake Eppalock, which is great for boating. Here are some links for you to find out more about the area that I live in; http://www.wilmap.com.au/1993/default.htm http://www.bendigo.vic.gov.au/ I know there are a few other good sites that I have saved in my fav's on my own computer, but cant access them at the moment. When I can, I will add them. Hels |

Hels As I 'said to you' on BE's we had 5 great years in Bendigo and I fully concur on how nice a place it is. I taught at what was then Bendigo Technical College (now Britafe) and Mrs OzT taught at Girton College. We started off with a rented house straight across the road from the tennis courts and 'footy' ground at Kennington and then bought a house up the hill in Cotswold Crescent which joins St Aidan's Rd to Mill St. We also had a block of land out at Tannery Lane in Mandurang. The tennis was great in Bendigo and we used to play at the grass courts in Barnard St and the centre out at Lake Weeroona; I was also very involved with the soccer and was Secretary of the Bendigo Soccer League. That is what a provincial city such as Bendigo is all about - there are plenty of things to get involved in and you meet a lot of people that way. It is a very attractive small city with a tremendous history. A must for a visit for you all and a place worthy of consideration to settle in. We still have lots of friends in Bendigo and we always go back each year when we are over, in fact we had a day in Bgo 2 months ago. OzTennis :flag: |
