:eye popping: Hi Everyone, I'm moving out to Melbourne (from London) with my aussie husband at the end of 2005. I am just about to start the visa process. If I use an agent has anyone got an idea of how long it will take and how much it will cost £ ? Thanks Kathy |

Hi a bit late for this reply but for others you may be interested in the BE site where there is loads of information about this: www.britishexpats.com/forum (under spouse visa thread) Sloane |

I'm sorry but following a practice on the BritishExpats forum where links and/or references to BritVics have been removed or their authors warned via threatening PM, we are no longer allowing posts promoting that site. After all it's only fair. I mean you wouldn't want to accidentally increase their page impression based advertising revenue now would you :pmsl:
Also I'm very interested in this whole idea of a Temporary Spouse ? |

Has anyone been warned by PM about mentioning Britvics site on Ex Pats ??? I know they don't like it mentioned to much, I tend to tell people about Britvics via PM now. I don't think for a minute we are in competition with Ex pats, I have used it quite a bit myself although not so much recently. |

Ditto, used to look at BE's regularly but hardly ever of late. By sheer co-incidence I looked at it today for the first time in a long while and the first thread I opened up was about tax implications on currency gains - same topic as near the top on this forum. It descended into some smart a**e who has had a go at Alan Collett previously signing up as a new member with a new name to do the same all over again and the Mod threatened to close the thread. It confirmed why I haven't visited BE's lately! The one thing I will say is that BE's search facility is useful if you want to know something about visas, exchange rates, a location, employment or whatever - it has many more posters and many more posts so can be useful that way. BV's'll do me! OzTennis :flag: |

A phenomenon
|
I'm a temporary spouse
 !!!! I believe its one of the quickest visas to get,, no idea how much it cost as my "temporary hubby" dealt with that :D You do have to get a fair bit of paperwork together to prove your relationship but once the application is in , barring any major problems it should come through quickly,,I've heard of people getting them in 2 weeks! |

Jesus, who was that guy ? As if Alan doesn't know what he's talking about. Unless this other chap spends all of each and every day consulting with the ATO his clients on this topic I would simply bow down and shut up. |

The problem is that there have been concerted campaigns by other forums (not Britvics) to entice members from BE on to their sites. This has resulted in a number of posters being banned and a harder line being taken. A case of it being spoiled for other sites such as this which are non-commercial and have no other agenda than to help emigrants. Simon |

A little information can be a terrible thing. Especially when you consider how you ask a question can help determine what answer you receive back (ie from the ATO). There is nothing I would disagree with in what Alan has said. It is just the poster concerned wants to hear another answer. If the said poster did have professional qualifications I would be placing a complaint with the respective disciplinary office. |
