Hi Ya Bordy It is scarey especially when some councils make use of this technology to check up on planning violations & tree felling  Luckly there are only a few that have the skills & vision to use it ;) Most still rely on complaining neighbours & wandering council staff to spot planning violations cheers Smudgo |

Great site. I wonder how old these images are? It certainly gives you a good idea of boundaries and trees etc. great if you're house hunting and want to check the neighbourhood out! ;) |

I checked out the road some friends live on where 2 houses had been razed ready for redevopment (in January) and those houses are on the photos, so guessed they were taken before Jan this yr. Don't think 18 month old photos would be used by the councils to check up on people. If it was a webcam it might be more usable? We have a jigsaw of our road (can just about see the house)and area that I bought from an internet site of the uk. The Oz site is more defined -better resolution, in that you can zoom in and see whats in the garden. I could even see my friends trampoline!! Now thats almost an invasion of privacy?! |

The age of the photos seems to be variable. I just brought up our place in Williamstown and the townhouses 3 doors down which were finished 2 years ago are in the early stages of construction which in turn took nearly a year. The Williamstown satellite images I'd put at early to mid 2002 (early judging by the parched looking lawns). Interesting site though and very annoying that you have to pay at least $14.95 to get a crisp image without the watermark. :D OzTennis :flag: |
