building work; is the building industry slowing down

B) hi there everyone first post on this site read alot but never posted. my husband and i are heading to melbourne as soon as we sell our house, my hubby is a builder and his brother already lives in melbourne (packenham) we spoke to him the other day and he was telling us that the building side of things has slowed down his company has had to lay off several people . we are worried that it may be hard to find work once we get out there, is there anyone out there experiencing the same thing . regards clare

Hi Clare, welcome to the site.
I'm not a builder so not a lot of help I'm afraid. I do know the last few years has been so busy. When we built our house they had to get brickies over from Tassie. Maybe it will pick up again when the weather gets better.
