Hi to all in BRITVIC world! This is my first posting, so i will just rattle on and hope for the best.... My husband and I visited Melbourne in May, 2006. we stayed in a hotel in the CBD and spent most days travelling out to different suburbs from Geelong to berwick. We asked anyone who would listen where they thought a great place to live would be if they could choose anywhere! Obviously got different answers although the south east favoured highly, we did like berwick village and surrounding narre warren unfortunatley only found these areas on last day of trip! typical!! If i give you a run down of our needs, wants etc.. if anyone can give us any help we will throw you a party when we arrive. My name is Kerrie, I am 36 and teach aerobics, my husband eddie is 34 a toolmaker who presently works for fords. we have the full range of children.......... Chris 15, Connor 12 and little Scarlett 3, so teenager to toddler, its lucky i'm fit. We would like to be within 50 min of CBD as the boys will probably be working there in a few years, we loved the pubs, restaurants and nightlife of melbourne so want to be close enough for weekend trips. Would like 3/4 to 1 acre of land, 4/5 bed house hopefully with pool, will rent to start with so will try to get near good schools (primary, secondary, college and university) and possibly move further out when got the kids established. Sure you are getting bored reading now, so will sign off look forward to reading your replies.fingers crossed. CHEERS  |

A lot of the new builds in Narre Warren are great. You are close to the Freeway & to Fountain Gate which is a huge shopping mall. Aspendale I think would be quieter, older build houses & next to the beach. It depends what your looking for, certainly worth checking out both suburbs when you get back here. |

Hi Kerrie I live in Berwick and can strongly recommend it. It's about a 40-45 minute drive into the CBD via the freeway or an hour by train; about 25 minutes drive to the nearest beach (Mordialloc) and around 30 minutes drive to the Dandenong Ranges (beautiful national park). Berwick itself has a wide range of excellent restaurants, cafes and community services (dentists/doctors/physios/chiros) plus several primary/secondary schools, a TAFE college and a university campus (Monash university). Monash university has its main campuses at Clayton and Caulfield which are both easily accessible by train from Berwick. There is also the lovely Wilson Botanical Gardens. As Bordy mentioned 5 minutes down the road is Westfield Fountain Gate shopping centre which has heaps of shops, cafes and a cinema. It also houses a good library and the local council offices. You might also be interested in Beaconsfield Upper which is about 5 - 10 minutes away from Berwick. You'd be about 50 minutes from the CBD yet living in beautiful countryside. Beaconsfield Upper is great if you're looking for a bit of land as well as a gorgeous big house with pool! A few weblinks for you to take a look at: www.berwickvillage.com.au/ www.berwick-village.com.au/ http://westfield.com/fountaingate/ www.dandenong-ranges.net.au www.alexscott.com.au/berwick (real estate) www.jacksonrealestate.com.au (real estate) www.barryplantdoherty.com.au (real estate) www.frankfacey.com.au (real estate) www.ljhooker.com.au (real estate) www.grantsestateagents.com.au (real estate) I think that's enough homework for now! Feel free to post me if you have any further questions. Cheers Vicky |
