Member Posts: 18 Group: Members Member #874 Joined: 28 August 2006	hello everyone just trying to get an idea on where i might find CAD work 2d or 3d in and around melbourne, what sort of hours you work and an idea on the pay level, i know this is going to be based on experience so you know even if it is low any extra is a blessing, also would it be worth appling from the uk for jobs or would we be better off waiting untill we are there(hopefully). again thanks for all replys andy and family

I am in civil and structural enginering and picked up a job within 2 weeks of arriving (had 2 offers). Currently working about 40 hours, could do more but like to get home to see the family before its dark... Most of the jobs are through agencies, I am with Hays at the moment, no complaints. Best place to look is Seek or CareerOne web sites to get an idea of whats on offer. As for money thats a bit harder as its very rarely included in the ads. Be aware that wages can be a good bit lower than the UK. There are plenty of contract positions on offer in building and engineering. In my experience it is unlikely that an offer will be made while you are still in the UK, but you could be lucky. Try and contact any agencies as soon as possible so when you arrive you can arrange face to face meetings. All the best Don
