Hi all Trying to research rental properties in Melbourne from the UK....nightmare! Does anyone have any knowledge of Danendong, Doncaster, or Doncaster East? Any info (good or bad) would be welcome - They both look like very big towns? Suitable for children to live in? Safe/Clean? Thanks Rachel  |

Forget Dandenong Rachel. Not a nice area to live in. The others are very nice. |

Thanks Bordy - Is the town of Danendong different from 'the Danendongs'? I've just received e mail from old friend living in Melbourne who said 'the danendongs are beautiful' I got the impression it was a big park or a range of hills? (She was going to the steam train?) The letting agent has also got back to me with 3/4 houses all of which are in Doncaster/Doncaster East - so I don't suppose it really matters! Is there an area of Doncaster (East) we should steer clear of? Any replies welcome! |

The Dandenongs is very differant from the suburb of Dandenong yes. The Dandenongs is an area of hills & rainforest & some beautiful little villages like Sassafras & Olinda & Belgrave where Puffing Billy the steam train takes you up the hills through the forest. http://www.bluedandenongs.com.au/homepage.html http://www.puffingbilly.com.au/ AS far as Doncaster is concerned I'm not aware of any bad areas. |

We found alot of things via a Melbourne Childrens Guide. During the winter there are numerous indoor softplay centres which are well catered. There are parks and playareas on just about every block - great way to meet local (similar - families with similar aged kids) friends. There is also the swimming pools, the beach, playgroups, etc Shane |
