Hi, we are new to this site and would like to say hello to everyone. :waving:

We are hoping to come to Victoria late Aug this year and we are looking at settling in Mornington. We have two sons ages 6 and 3 and would be grateful for some advise about primary schools in the area. Also any advise about Mornington in gereral would be great.

Many thanks

Hi, I am in Mt.Eliza which is between Frankston and Mornington. I'm currently researching primary schools in the Mt.Eliza, South Frankston area opposed to Mornington itself. However, some primary schools have catchment areas and some don't. Some will offer second round places to those outside of their catchment area if they don't fill their spaces.

Depending on what part of Mornington you settle and how far you want the school run to be you may want to check out Mt Eliza North Primary It's a public school so you don't have to pay to attend. I did the school tour recently and really liked the school and Headmaster. They teach French and teach the IB Program (see the website for details) Lots of parents with children there have recommended it to me so it's worth a look. The traffic is awful at drop off collection times so it may be worth parking away from the school and walking a bit.

Mornington is a great place with a choice of modern and older housing. Beleura Hill area is nice. The beaches are great and there's a bit of life to the place with a good selection of restaurants, bars etc. Diving, fishing, boating, walking, surfing can all be done nearby and there's loads for children and families to do. The kids will love swimming at Pelican Park in Hastings which is 25mins away and there are indoor playcentres for when the weather isn't great like today. Got soaked in a heavy down pour from the Supermarket to my Car :crybaby:

HTH's a bit.

Good luck
Caroline

Hi My daughter is 9 and attends Bentons Junior College .She has settled in excetionally well and has adapted to school life here .
I here also good things about Vale street school and also Osborne Primary .
It does depend on where you live and some of the schools will ask for proof that you live in their area .There are enough people on Britvics who live in Mornington to be ablr to give you a good all round view on schools here

best of luck

Hi,

We've got a 3 & 5 year old and are living in Mount Martha (next door to Mornington). The oldest started at the Osborne Primary School and absolutely loves it. The youngest has just started kinder at Bentons Community Centre and is also loving it. There seems so much for kids to do here they'll never be bored.

Anything else you want to know then fire away. Mornington, and in fact the Peninsula in general, is a fantastic place to live. :D

Cheers,

Simon & Co
