Hi

Well the Winter has only really started this week, although the forecast is 20 degrees on Saturday.

The worst it gets down to is about 3 or 4 overnight and then warms up to a max of about 16.

Can't really comment on the rain as we have only lived here for a couple of years we haven't seen that much. We have had a decent rainfall over the last week though.

I haven't had to wear anything thicker than a fleece, although you will see some people in overcoat, hat, scarf and gloves :D

Hope this helps.

I remember a statement you made John about being able to have your back door open while you were working from home in winter in Oz which you weren't in the UK.

You could have a look at www.bom.gov.au for all your weather info.
What is interesting is how quickly your blood becomes thinner and you get used to the hot weather....if it was 12 degrees in Yorkshire I would usually have my shorts & tshirt on...no chance here!
I recall once having my frost alert chime in my car....wondered what the heck it was.

Hi Simon

I have got it open again as we speak :D

It saves me from getting up to keep letting the dogs in and out.

You will soon be facing this bleak Antartic type weather.

Yes Fiona has got multiple pyjamas and electric blankets and hot water bottles on order.

She didn't seem amused when I asked her if I should start researching survival gear and huskies :)

Last night was one of the coldest thus far - 6.5 degrees. Probably signalling a sunny day ahead.

But we got to at least late teens.

Our coldest last year was about 3 degrees, around the corner 200m it was 0.5c but they are in a curious low-lying hollow.

She be used to the cold mate coming from the South Island, and the west coast as well?

We thought it was such a big adventure as kids tramping through the bush and crossing ice cold mountain rivers to get from the stranded 4x4 to our holiday hunting hut (dirt floor 12 x 12 shed (corrugated walls and roof).

Can really see me taking Elaine back there in Mid August :D
