What's your location?
Dear Britvicers,

For those people who want to have a Facebook badge in their signature (see mine below), here's how to do it.

1. Go to the bottom of your Profile page on Facebook and click on “Create a Profile Badge” .
2. Create a Horizontal badge, and add and delete items until you have the badge you want. Save it. I added Profile pic. Name and Websites.
3. Copy and paste the HTML that is just under the badge (not the HTML at the bottom of the page) into your signature in Britvics.

It will look something like this:

<a href="http://www.facebook.com/p/Michele_Hart/695538527" title="Michele Hart's Facebook profile" target=_TOP><img src="http://badge.facebook.com/badge/695538527.116.1337708077.png" border=0 alt="Michele Hart's Facebook profile"></a>

4. Change the HTML code into this*:

[URL.=http://www.facebook.com/p/Michele_Hart/695538527][IMG.]http://badge.facebook.com/badge/695538527.116.1337708077.png[/IMG]

*just remember to remove the dots from the and [IMG] codes. I had to add these so that you can see the code in the post.

5. Save changes

I've found the site really useful for three reasons:

1. It s fun way to keep in touch with people

2. It has been good to put faces to names of fellow BV'ers

3. I've got back in touch with some people that I hadn't spoken to in years.

Ok its not everyones cup of tea, but I like.

If anyone has any idea of what else to do with the Britvics page on facebook feel free to give it a go so long as it keeps the same feel that Bordy and his fellow moderators manages to maintain on this site i.e. welcoming, friendly and informative.

Just checked on facebook and we have 46 BV'ers signed up but not everyone has introduced themselves and their username.

Could any new joiners just give a quick shout out as to who they are on BV.

Cheers

Not so happy with Facebook. It seems to publish your real name with no option to have a pseudonym

As for posting pictures, anyone can setup a basic account for free on Flickr. A really great site, not just for professionals, but you get professional features. We have used it for all our photos. You can even restrict access to certain photos/albums to just Family and/or friends. Highly recommended!

Mr bigAPE :yikes:

Just signed up, you don't have to give away any personal details if you don't want. It accepted Oz Tennis as my name. :D I just had time to have a look at Andrew's video shot at Southbank and Rialto which was excellent.

Sorry Oz, I don't get the point. It's a social networking site where people who might know you search for you by using your real name. Personally I don't see the point in using a pseudonym on a site where posting your identity is the whole point.

I just don't get social networking sites like this and MySpace. However, I am on LinkedIn and FriendsReunited, so I guess I'm kind of hypocritical  Just ignore me.

I've joined facebook but not really quite sure what I am doing (Louise Britvic) ???

Does this mean I can now have photos showing on the Britvic site?

ie if I want to post a photo on Britvics how do I do this?

Sorry for being a bit slow on the uptake!

Hi Louise

In order to post pictures on BV you need to use a photo hosting website like Flickr or Photobucket. I personally use Photobucket. There is a seperate thread with instructions of how to post photos - I'll find the link and post it up.

As for facebook the best way to get started is to search for friends using the "Find Friends" link under the Friends tab at the top of the screen on Facebook. This lets facebook search you email contacts to see if any friends/contacts are already registered on facebook. Then when you find someone you want to be friends with on facebook you click on the add friend button and you get the chance to send them a quick message.

After that have a look at the applications that are available and use a few to send people stuff and let the fun begin.

Shout up if you need any more help

Bugger, I have bowed to the overwhelming peer pressure of Facebook. That, and my best friend and his family have set themselves up. I've also joined the BritVics group :noooooo:

Don't worry, I have no idea what I'm doing on there! I'm randomly hugging people and doing god knows what else, and when I was looking at someone else's page I saw they had been sent Appletinis (I'm a big Scrubs fan) - where do you get them from?

I have joined Facebook but can't really cope with another communications system - by the time I've checked Britvics, BE etc - not enough hours in the day!

Plus I keep forgetting all the log-ins arrghhhh!

Thanks Herrchook for your link to FB - will accept when I remember what to do! Wondered where you had gone to!
