Hi. If anyone wants to adopt us we'll be greatfull - although you need to be warned about the kids. Hoping to be somewhere on the Pininsula next summer, 'though can't decide between the east and west side - Rosebud area or more towards Tyabb/Somerville. If anyone has any advice, it'll be most welcome. Just waiting for the visa now. Also, what are the job prospects for Sparkies?

Jim and Kath

PS. Great Site :yeap:

When I first saw the thread, I thought "what a great idea, but will it take off ? "

Now when I read a few reactions, and also take into account the atmosphere here compared to BE, I can see it will definitely work here on Britvics.

Hereby, I officially put myself (and family of course) up for adoption.

We are Paul (42) Joke (pronounced Yoka, age 42+ a little bit :D ) Damiean (12 and skateboard mad) and Eugene (9 and just plain mad)

Any brave souls in the Dandenongs/belgrave/Ferntree area looking for a challenge, here we are :D

Hey - Fantastic idea. They actually run a similar service in South Australia (where we were supposed to be going) Have someone meet you at the airport etc etc.

We'd love to adopt. Funnily enough I've not used this site enough and therefore have'nt met any brits as yet (even though it appears some of you live close by!)

Can't help with schooling though (our kids stayed in the Uk 23 & 21).

We are in Parkside, not far from Bayside. I'm 48, and Martyn 50. We're both from London on a 457.

Count us in..... need some buddies to share our love of BBQ & wine before the summer!

Hi All,

We (Lisa and Scott - 31, Ella-May - 3 and Lucia - 20 months) are currently living in Point Cook and after much discussion and thoughts of moving north or east, it looks like we are staying put for now!! So if you are heading this way let me know and I'll adopt you :D

Lisa :waving:

After alot of rwoing and froing over it we should be coming out this year??

We're literally just waiting for our visa's to come back to us.

Point Cook is where we're headed as it'll be a lovely short drive of up to 15 minutes for hubby to get to and from work.

Not sure that we'll need adopting cause we have already visited last year and checked out schools etc, but advice and a friendly chat would be much appreciated.

Oh we are Martin 31 (going grey;) ) Maintenance Engineer
Jen 29 (next Thursday) and mum to
Brandon 9
Ryan 7 and
little Tazzy devil Sean who will be 2 in three weeks

I think that's a fantastic idea. :) We would have loved that kind of support when we first arrived!
We've been here nearly a year & a half now so would be really happy to adopt someone.......the only thing is we live out in Woop-woop, (well, Castlemaine!) - we seem to be the only brave souls settled outside Melbourne apart from one couple in Riddells Creek who I hope to meet soon!
But as we have been here a while and we have got over all kinds of hurdles so far I think we could be of some use!

Thanks don't know if that was directed at me but we'll accept any offers of meeting new people and catching up with people we've already chatted to.

Sorry to anyone i've lost contact with it's been a little frustrating over her ein the UK waiting to get these visa's done (hopefully we're nearing the end) and we're juggling jobs sorting the huse out and well sort of running round like headless chickens.

We'd love to meet as many people as we can and once settled will be happy to return the favour and help anyone we can.

We are looking to come to the Point Cook / Sanctuary Lakes area.

Meet the family:

Duncan (34) the other Evertonian (don't hold that against us please!)
Laura (33)
Lydia (12)
Hywel (10 - well 10 in 2 weeks)
Katrin (7)

We will be moving from not so sunny South Wales sometime soon hopefully this year if not beginning of next year - ASPC willing of course!

We must be mad as none of us have even been to Australia on holidays but this is something we have always talked about doing and decided that if we didn't do it now we never would.......

We definitely need adopting, if someone is brave enough to take us on.

Some advice on what to do when we arrive would be greatfully appreciated - we have the list for things like bank accounts, tax file ..etc. But some good advice on the things that you struggled with would be greatfully appreciated

Also some info on how to get a rental property before we move or info on hotels / apartments in the area that we could use until we manage to get a rental property.

Looking forward to meeting you all soon,

Hi Laura and family,

Not sure we'll be settled in time to adopt you but lots of nice ppl on here so i'm sure someone will. I will do you the favour of telling you when we're booking our flights for (when we know) cause you won't want to be on the same plane as us LOL

Hope to see you in Point Cook/ Sanctuary Lakes area ;).

Oh and Lisa we may need adopting sooner, as you know we got our visa's approved and have been playing round with various ideas, unfortunately doesn't look like we'll be able to keep the house here but we may be able to fly out and let my dad sell it for us, so we could be out there if we can book the flights and movers etc in about 2 months - eeeek

Will update more when I know for sure. But it's turned mighty cold here the last two days, bit of encouragement to speed it along.

Anyone got the detaisl for the big 4 ??? I think thats what the holiday accomodation is called???

Jen,

Will definitely look you up when we eventually come over....

I have been looking at flights on Xmas day - solves the issue with having last Xmas with family but still allows us to be in Melbourne in time for New Year...

Of course this is dependent on DIAC gracing us with the visa grant before then! We are June applicants and have frontloaded - received ack yesterday, meds arrived in LCU on 10/09 and PCC sent by return email yesterday so hopefully once we are assigned a Case Officer they will have sufficient info to make a decision - keep your fingers crossed for me.......

I am crossing everything even my eyeballs and I ain't half getting some funny looks.

Only someone who has been there could understand this temporary (i hope) state of insanity

Laura x
