Great post and very informative all the way through your reccie! Glad you found somewhere you really like and that your house sells quickly for you. We are heading out to Geelong in September this year so maybe we will see you on the other side! Good luck with all the plans :have a beer: Sue |

Great photos Oz Tennis! We all love living here!! And for those that don't know Geelong we do have some fantastic beaches at Ocean Grove and Barwon Heads and Bancoora too. There are 3 parts to Torquay beach and a big favourite of ours is cosey Corner. Also a fantastic surfing beach is Bells Beach and that looks beautiful all year round especially when surfs up! And Nagiboy and Family loved your post too! Good luck with tying up all the loose ends and moving on down ! :flower: |

Maybe my post should have said - I f***in hate jetlag.  Worse coming back than going but I think it didn't help that most of us fell ill and we had to take Max to hospital. He's got an upper respitory tract infection (Posh name for a chest infection I think) but we're all getting better. |

What's the commute time from Geelong to CBD? Is there a train service or only road? |

Hi Bigape, The train takes about an hour from South Geelong to the CBD, my son travels there everyday most days with no problems, I travelled there myself yesterday not too bad at all. It was clean and not to over crowded and that was at 5-30pm. Welshlass :waving: |

Glad Sam enjoyed his shortbread. I am experimenting with chelsea buns and lardy cake at the moment, although getting different results from when I was in UK. I think the flour is not as good. That's my excuse anyway! Look forward to seeing you again soon! SUE |

I would do the commute by train, as the car parking costs are skyhigh in the CBD, and the fat train takes about an hour - heres the timetable. Geelong - Melbourne Just don't take my seat :D |

Well obviously the thin train takes a lot less time - it can squeeze through gaps the fat one can't!!! :mah: |

Hey Sue Another happy home baker :D I love baking cakes and biscuits at home, I know I'm a bit sad  Do you think it might be the butter that makes your results taste different. It just wasnt the same as English butter. Its more like whipped up margarine? I'm definitely going to experiment out there because the ozzy cakes were all european and plasticky ;) Karen :waving: |

Thanks for the Geelong threads Oztennis  Do you know, they were really really helpful. I've got a very weird feeling inside. I'm getting very excited about Geelong and surrounds. Nagiboy: we could well be neighbours :mate: Cheers Karen :flower: |

Karen I think it's a combination of factors which are giving different results and I agree the butter does have a strange consistency. Where's the Anchor butter? I'm a pastry chef by trade and I have been disappointed by the general standards of cakes and pastries, unless you go into the city where there are very good Italian bakeries. Unfortunately out here the wilds of the East there is not much choice. I think it is very Americanised with all the sickly sweet frostings. Sorry Lorraine for hijacking your thread! |

continuing the cake part of this thread.... Sounds like we are lucky over here nearer the city with choice and quality of cake...too much so! No wonder I've had to join a gym! Good luck Sue with the bun experimenting - just let us know if you need some tasters! :D Kim |

Great post Mr Elite!!! What a fab reccie you had. You did soooooo much. I think we all like and dislike the same things. Now I'm dying to vist Geelong and all the other places I didn't get to see. I still have so much more to discover about Melbourne. We'll have to have lunch time Britvic meetups once a month for the CBD workers preferably on a friday :D Gail |

Have to agree about your comments on Eastern Beach. I love the place as do the kids. Oh..and the ovens with the element at the bottom... are they all like this here? We are in a rented property so we cant change it, but we were going to buy one for our own place one day. |
