Hi everyone,

I'm just after some reassurance really. We got allocated a CO at the end of October and they asked for proof of Craig's previous job before he worked for himself. Our agent said that they should not need that because Craig has worked for himself for over 3 years and they only need 3 out of 4 years. We have no proof from where he worked before and they shut down a few years ago now.

Has anyone else had this kind of problem? Do you think we will still get the visa and if so do you think it will be before Xmas? (panicking and impatient :-) )

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks
Jane & Craig

I'm moving this to the general section as far more people will see it and hopefully you'll get some answers! Good luck.

Hello Jane and Craig :waving:

We had similar issues when we were going through the process stage. My wife was asked to evedience some old work places, which she was unable to do as they had either closed down or merged with other companies. :mah:

She had to do statuary declarations and get them witnessed by a solicitor, we used a International Notary for hers.

See if that would help your case

A phenomenon
We also had similar problems when doing the TRA. We did a stat document and got it signed by a solicitor. There is a way of doing a search to prove that the company existed, your agent should be able to advise you on this. Anyway ours turned out ok and we passed the TRA, not sure if we'll get asked to prove anything with the visa as were still waiting for a case officer. I did think that all this was proved when you go through the TRA process and not the visa ??
Good luck i'm sure it will all work out fine, it must have happened to others in the past. I wouldn't have thought it would affect your outcome you can't control companies closing down.
All the best

Forever Ignored.
If you are still at TRA stage theres no way you'll have a visa before Xmas.

BUT I was self employed and managed to get a skills assesment through, with no agent! so good luck. Where theres a will theres a way ;)

Hi

Rob had to get copies of NI contributions, which went back to the first day he started work and paye tax which only goes back 7 years to prove his work history. The tax office was very helpful.

Hi All,

Thanks for your responses.

Just to confirm we applied for our visa back in May. We did all the stat decs for the TRA and then copies are sent with the main app as far as I know.

Craig was actually classed as self employed working as a subby from June 03 to March 04 and started his own business in May 04. It was before we met and he hasn't kept anything...P60's nothing.

Our agent says that Craig's accounts give 3 years of proof of employment and they shouldn't be asking for any more, but our deadline for getting back is on Wednesday 5th. The agent says not to worry. Hmmm, easier said than done.

I just wondered if anyone had been through a similar thing.

Thanks
Jane
