Hi all, Would really recommend The Sands apartment in Seaford for those looking for that first months accommodation on arrival. It's a fab 3 bed 3 storey apartment that sleeps about 6 - 8 people if needed. OH and I stayed there and couldn't fault the place or the owners Craig and Julie who were so helpful, nothing too much trouble, any advice you need if they can help they will etc. They will even sort out transport from the airport for you. It is just across the road from the beach, has 2 bathrooms, continental style laundry, kitchen, living and dining area, garage (and car with satnav for a little extra if required) and master suite on top floor. The best bit about this place is that it costs about the same per night as a hotel/motel room but instead of just a room and bath you get an entire house! Check out the website and book early to get the dates you need. www.thesands.websyte.com.au Giules |

Hi Giules This looks like what we're looking for when we move but their web site doesn't seem to be working. Do you have any other contact information you could perhaps PM to us? Thanks for the recommendation  Paul and Aly |

Slightly off-topic I know but what did you think of Seaford as a place? How did you find the traffic? Shops ok? Not too many scrotes hanging round street corners drinking dodgy beer, uk-style? thanks |

Hi Claire & Dan, We lived in Seaford for the first 7 months and found it to be quite a nice area, not huge more a small seaside town, pretty quiet but with great transport links. An hour to Melbourne by train direct or you can drive it in an hour and a half if you must, less if you're lucky (depending on time of day of course) The new Eastlink road is opening this month which means commuting around the area by car is going to be a lot quicker. Seaford is right on the seafront with the main road the Nepean Highway separating the town from the sea which gets pretty busy at peak times but is not that bad. (it does take you all the way to the city) We stayed in the apartment that we have recommended for the first month and that is right on the Nepean and to be honest it was ok. There is the odd 'scrote' but few and far between, you will find a lot more in Frankston which is the nearest city (10 mins by car or train) Good for shopping but don't live there! As for shops in Seaford there is a strip along the nepean which has as much as you need plus a safeway supermarket just up the road a bit. Oh, and the all important take aways! Most big shopping malls are not that far away by car and there are loads to choose from. All in all it's a pretty good place depending on what you want of course. The price of housing is going up but we had no problem finding a rental although we may just have been lucky!!! Hope I have been of some help, we did a google earth on the place before we came out and although it doesn't help with what the place is like it did help with the location side of things. Just type in 'The Sands, Nepean Highway, Seaford, Vic' and it will give you a good picture of the area (assuming you haven't done that already) Anything else you want to know, just shout. Cheers Giules :waving: |
