Well we have been here just under a month now.

And so what have we done.

In a short condensed version we have bought two cars, found somewhere to live in Clifton Springs (but not until the 20th) had our stuff from the UK delivered(currently stored in our mates large shed). I've started work, we've got Sam enrolled in kinder and registered for school.

We've also bought a fridge freezer, washing machine, dryer, microwave, kettle and my personal favourite a 42" plasma full hd tv - all from the good guys and got over $700 knocked off for paying cash.

I've also become partial to Boags - in all its versions!!!

What else ... oh yes i've been eaten alive by mossies - apparently they are in record numbers on the Bellarine peninsula this year - bloody typical.

Are we enjoying it?

Hell yes!!!

Even with getting up at 5.30 for work I'm loving it and wondering why I have done it sooner.

Work has been a little tedious but only because I've spent most of my time doing online training courses. I have spent the day in Canberra with Mark (from the Chapmans) meeting the bosses of the tax office and the various departments - which was actually better than it sounds, as we got to meet the other UK and Ireland recruits. By the way is there a Sydney equivalent of Britvics, as an Irish lass we met is in need of some support out there.

I'm slowly but surely getting my bearings in the CBD, and with the help of Mark have found the food court at Telstra, and my personal favourite at the moment - the chicken schnitzel burger.

I've also seen the ultimate in barbies but I think I might have trouble convincing Kath - one with a built in sink and beer fridge - sounds great but at nearly $5k I'd also wnat it to be self cleaning. Talking about barbies we were at one the other week and have freshly caught mussles bought from Portarlington ( less than 3 hours from catching to being in my stomach) - absolutely delish and I can't wait to taste more fresh produce.

Well that's enough for the time being... so far so good!!! :have a beer:

PS Thanks to Gary n Wendy for the first week - see you soon buddy for a barbie and the curry recipe!!!

Great to hear you are having such a good time and settling in well.

I don't know if there is a sydney forum for expats, but there is an irish forum, although it is based in Ireland, and the majority of people on it are going to Perth, but it might be worth her having a look at, I think there are a couple of people on there heading to Sydney.

Its called irishozforum.com

Hi Matt

Glad it's going so well for you. You've swapped with my OH  He gets up at 5.30am every day to drive to London. He's really looking forward to getting up at 7.30am and walking to work in the CBD soon (when he actually gets a job that is :D ).

Keep up with the online training. I will need lots of tax advise when I get there

I'm really looking forward to finally meet you guys when we arrive.

Take care

Gail

Libby must hate me - we extended her stay at Spotswood as we didn't have somewhere for her to go, and then when we got she was really pleased to see us, and we had to drive her straight to another cattery, as the friends we are staying with are allergic to cats!!!

Roll on the 20th when we move into our own place and she can come and joins us.

Considering that she has been couped up for over two months she is doing really well.

Hi Matt

Glad to hear she is doing okay, shame about her extended stay though.

Still she'll be bouncing around your new house in a few days time!
