Hiya,

Well 6 months ago today we were leaving the UK to start our new life here in Melbourne. Saying goodbye to the family was one of the hardest things I have ever done and still makes me well up today if I think about it :( Had a lovely flight with Singapore Airlines and arrived at Melbourne Airport with no accomodation booked for our first night :o (don't ask!!) but got a taxi to the city and booked in to the travelodge on the Southbank. Next day we had a 2 week townhouse in Mount Waverley. Wandered about like zombies for the first few days but managed to secure a rental on our very first viewing day.

Moved into the rental (in Berwick) - david started work at the Casey Hospital, Heather started school and I was all alone and very tearful> Then some lovely ladies (from Britvics) came to my rescue and cheered me up no end :D Just as I was starting to feel a wee bit settled I found out I was pregnant (eek - big shock) but unfortunately had a miscarriage at 9 weeks and thats when I really knew I had friends here (thanks Debb and Haley for all your help and support). We went away for a few days to Dromana and since then I have felt a lot more settled and happy (although feeling a bit teary again but I blame the time of year) :D

So all in all it has been a rocky road but I think we are coming through the other end. will we stay here for ever? - I'm not sure but at least we can say we gave it a go. I am going back to work in the new year (just a couple of shifts a month) so that should help too (as I'm not cut out to be a full time stay at home mum). And best of all Davids parents are coming for a visit in 7 weeks time  so that is something to look forward too.

Heres to the next 6 months :D

awwwwwwwwwe karen i had no idea, hope you continue to feel ok, its a long road hun, but hopefully we'll get there :)

I think its wise just to do a couple of shifts and see how it goes, its always at work i feel the most crap  i miss my pals, the sense of humour, the 'knowing it all so well at work, but at least i am finding Austin better than any of the private hosps, gonna try to get more hours in the new year.

Today we didnt start in the theatres unil 09.30 as the managers put on a xmas breakfast, i kinda sat in the corner meself coz i dont know anyone yet, as i only do two 6 hr shifts per week.
